WALLENPAUPACK- The choruses of the Wallenpaupack North Intermediate School will present their annual Winter Concert on Wednesday, December 11 at 6 p.m. at the North Intermediate School Gymnatorium.

Members of the Third Grade Chorale, Fourth Grade Ensemble, Fifth Grade Choir, and Fifth Grade Show Choir will perform winter and holiday songs such as We Need A Little Christmas, Siyahamba, and Candles, Candles. The groups are under the direction of Loriann Kerber.

[Editor's note: Part 1 discussed the dream of an electric trolley line connecting Honesdale and Hawley, utilizing the abandoned D&H Canal towpath. Discussion in the local newspapers began as early as 1898, just before the canal closed. There was hope the line would invigorate commerce, improve public transportation and aid both agriculture and manufacturing seeking freight opportunities. Tracks actually were being laid on Main Street, Honesdale, in 1906.]

The third annual Enchanted Christmas at the bandstand in Bingham Park will occur Saturday, December 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be live music, Christmas carolers, dancing, tree lighting and blessing, Santa and his favorite elf, a bonfire, marshmallow toasting and refreshments, and the“in memory of,” Angel Tree. The Country Gardeners celebrated 20 years last week, where present and former members reminisced about projects and trips taken through the years. A club founder and the current president, Judi Mortensen said the club began when she and her sister had the first meeting in her kitchen. Knowing a few master gardeners, and because of their interest in gardening, the ladies decided to start a gardening club.

It started out as a normal day at Bethany Village. When residents were eating lunch they couldn't have foreseen what was about to happen, especially one man in particular.
William Bea Jr., 88, is a World War II veteran who, unfortunately, lost his medals at some point “over the last 10 years.” Bea was a member of 70th Army Infantry Division as a Private First Class, serving in the European campaign.

Woodloch Pines Resort can boast of a new "world's record" while engaging over 400 people in the good cause of helping the needy have enough to eat. They assembled 656 packages and it only took less than three minutes to do it.

There was a time when an electric trolley was planned for Hawley and Honesdale, running back and forth on the abandoned canal towpath between the two towns. The trolley was to have been powered by the much anticipated hydroelectric plant that would dam the Wallenpaupack River and make a huge lake.

Clinton H. Leet, the founder of the Stourbridge Line Rail Excursions and whose inspiration led to the creation of the D&H Lock 31 Canal Park in Palmyra Township (Wayne County), died November 17th. He was 91.

Hawley Library asks funding from Pike

Hawley and Newfoundland public libraries are both in Wayne County but are on the border with Pike. As such, a large part of their patronage comes over the border. Strapped with cash shortages, officials from these libraries are asking Pike County to send some of their funding over the border as well.
