It’s a boy! The first baby born in 2013 at Wayne Memorial Hospital’s New Beginnings Birthing Suites, Joseph William Yorks, arrived in the world on January 1st, 2013 at approximately 6:19 p.m.
The first child for parents Susan and Joshua Yorks of Waymart weighed in at 7 pounds, 4.5 ounces and stretched 19 inches long. Little Joseph was welcomed by New Beginnings staff with a "First Baby of 2013" basket full of items both practical and fun—from onesies to toys.
Both parents admitted Joseph did not come into the world without some hard work, more than a few hours labor, but they were very happy to have a healthy newborn. The baby was delivered by Thomas O’Brien, MD, a board-certified obstetrician with the Women’s Health Center, Honesdale, part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers.
