The Wallenpaupack Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, 16th, at 1 p.m. at the PPL’s Environmental Learning Center on Route 6.
The presenter for the program will be Thomas Kennedy who will speak about the significance of the Gravity Railroad to our local area. Tom has spent his life researching the railroad and the D & H Canal. Much of Hawley's growth is attributed to the Pennsylvania Coal Company (PCC) Gravity Railroad, which operated here between 1850 and 1885. The PCC passenger rail coach next to the Hawley Public Library is a treasured artifact of that legacy.
Following the program will be a brief meeting and a social hour. The public is invited.
