Two structure fires in Lake Ariel in one day
The American Red Cross Wayne Pike Chapter assisted two families Wednesday Jan. 16 in the Lake Ariel area, at separate house fires.
At around 11:30 a.m., crews from Lake Ariel, Waymart, Maplewood and Jefferson Township were dispatched to a fire that took place at 93 Midvalley Road, Lake Ariel.
Lake Ariel Fire Chief Mike DiPierro said the fire was in a bedroom and that it was "possibly electrical." He added that there wasn't really any damage to the house and it "wasn't too crazy."
The crews were able to get the fire out fast and were on scene about 45 minutes.
The American Red Cross Wayne Pike Chapter also responded to the single family house with one adult and four young children.
The Red Cross provided food, clothing, shoes, seasonal garments and lodging for the family.
Midvalley Road is also State Route 3034; the house is just east of Cortez Road, near Lake Quinn.
Lake Ariel Fire Department were called at about 8 p.m. to respond to a single family house fire located at 4157 Woodcrest Lane in The Hideout, Lake Ariel. The Chief said that six fire trucks were on scene within five minutes.
Chief DiPierro said that the house was a total loss. There was major exposure to a neighboring home, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading.
Lake Ariel had around 30 firefighters on scene and there were around 60 total, including EMS. Assisting were Ledgedale, Hamlin, Jefferson and Lakeville.
The Red Cross assisted one family (two adults, five children) by providing lodging, food, clothing, shoes, seasonal garments, portable crib with linens and contact lens replacement.
