EYNON- State Rep. Frank Farina, D-Lackawanna/Wayne, will host Medicare counselors at his district office twice a month beginning Feb. 4.

Trained staff and volunteers from APPRISE, the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) will be in Farina’s constituent service office from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. the first and third Monday of each month, starting with the first Monday in February.

Farina’s constituent service office is located at 423 Main St., Eynon.

APPRISE counselors will be able to answer questions regarding Medicare, Medicaid, Medigap and long-term care insurance as well as preventive medicine and assisting with Medicare appeals paperwork.

"These counselors can help seniors make the right decisions for their health care choices," Farina said. "They will be able to offer information regarding the many different plans and options for those who are covered under these medical plans, to make sure they are enrolled in the most effective plan for their situation.

"Health care is not a one-size-fits-all program. Each individual has their own needs and issues, and a trained counselor can ensure the best fit between costs and benefits."

Walk-ins are welcome, but for staffing needs and to reduce waiting, Farina would prefer those looking for assistance make an appointment by calling his office at (570) 876-1111.
