WAYNE COUNTY- For 40 years, the American Cancer Society has marked the beginning of spring with Daffodil Days, coming to Pennsylvania on March 18-24. The Society is looking for volunteers to assist in the packing, delivering, and selling of flowers.
Between March 21st – 24th Volunteers are still "needed" at many direct sales sites throughout the area. Wrapping takes place at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19th at the Park Street complex cafeteria (formerly the Stourbridge school), Honesdale. If you are available, all help is appreciated... just show up, said Carleen Faatz.
Volunteers are also requested to deliver daffodils to local businesses on March 19th.
Where to buy them
You can receive a bunch of 10 flowers for a donation of $10, box of 500 for $500, or a half box of 250 for $250. This year also marks the addition of Ray O. Hope, the ninth in a special Boyds™ Bear collection designed exclusively for the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days Bear and a Bunch™ that can be ordered for a donation of $25.
Daffodil Days vase with a bunch is also available for a donation of $15. Also, you can help give comfort to a child in need in your community by delivering an anonymous Boyds Bear to them with a donation of $25 to Project Care. In addition, Gift of Hope offers a chance to deliver an anonymous bunch of daffodils and cancer information to a local cancer patient with a donation of $10 or more. Direct sales sites will be The Dime Bank, HNB Main Street, Dave’s Super Duper, Rays ShurSave, Shaffer's Hardware in Hamlin (Fri & Sat), and HNB in Hamlin (Fri & Sat).
