  •  Gifford Pinchot Audubon chapter seeks to fill leadership roles

    • email print
The Gifford Pinchot chapter of the National Audubon Society, which has for more than 30 years been fostering an interest in nature and the environment in Pike (PA) and Sussex (NJ) counties, is seeking new leadership to carry its programs into the future.
The chapter provides birding field trips and educational programs, many at Grey Towers National Historic Site, Milford, ancestral home of conservationist Gifford Pinchot, for whom the chapter is named. In addition to programs for its members and for the community, the chapter also sponsors Audubon Adventures, an in-classroom hands-on educational program for students in grades 3-5 in Pike and Sussex counties.
Currently, the Gifford Pinchot Audubon Society is at a critical crossroad. Governed by a local volunteer board, the chapter is in need of new leadership, including a President and Vice-President, in order to fulfill its mission as a trusted resource for environmental education and stewardship in the region.
Anyone interested in serving in a leadership position should contact board member Peter Wulfhorst at (570)296-2244. Membership in the Audubon Society isn’t required, however it is encouraged. The commitment includes leading the chapter in its quarterly meetings and overseeing the planning and delivery of several public programs and field trips.
