A man operating a snowmobile on the ice on Beach Lake was killed Saturday night, Feb. 9.

State Police Honesdale barracks identified the deceased as Kevin Mulligan, age 45, of Honesdale.

The incident occurred at 9:10 p.m. as the victim was operating a 2005 Polaris snowmobile. As he traveled across the lake, police said he may have become disoriented, when he rode off of the lake and into a stack of aluminum docks located along the shoreline.

Upon impact, the victim was thrown from the snowmobile and into the docks. He was found unresponsive with an apparent head injury immediately after the crash. Mulligan was wearing a helmet, said Trooper Brian Rickard.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Wayne County Coroner Edward Howell.
