Construction of a new bridge in Hawley is start before the end of February, weather permitting, said Hawley Councilman John Robertson.

As chairman of the Streets & Roads Committee, he related what he had learned about the project at the Borough Council meeting, Feb. 13. Council Vice-president Mary Sanders said that two representatives from PennDOT are expected to attend the March 13th Council meeting to talk about the project. Questions can be asked by anyone with concerns.

The bridge over the Lackawaxen River will be down to one-lane as the bridge is replaced. Temporary traffic signals in place will be activated in a blinking mode for five days prior to starting the work. Robertston said that work could start as early as the third week of February.

He said that the traffic lights will have a three minute signal. There will be special accommodation made for school buses.

Hawley Council meets at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday, at Borough Hall. Other meeting items will be reported separately.
