The Wayne County YMCA has more to offer than just a health center!!

Are your kids looking for something new to try? Why not bring them out to the Wayne County YMCA this Saturday, March 2nd from 11-11:45am and 11:45am-12:30pm. Rich Palazzo will be hosting a free trial of our new program, SNAG golf. The YMCA follows the SNAG golf program and uses SNAG Gold Equipment. Snag golf is an exciting new play format for learning golf. It is designed to bring kids into the game by adapting equipment, course dimensions, and scoring to the age and size of the children-just like youth sports do. SNAG golf enables kids to have a more enjoyable experience early on in the learning process. Having fun is the number one factor in keeping kids involved and active. Space is limited for the free trial, and for the actual program. Hurry in to the YMCA and sign your kids up today!

If golf isn’t their thing, sign them up for our youth co-ed basketball program. This program runs from Saturday, March 9th - Saturday, March 20th. We are taking registrations through March 8th for kids from grades K through 6. Practices and games are all on Saturdays. During this program the kids will learn and practice skills, rules, and tactics of basketball. Of course it's all while having fun. They will also participate in games at the end of each practice. At the end of the session each child will receive a certificate, refreshments and team pictures.

Also, offered here at the YMCA is summer camp. Summer camp is a great way to help your child meet new friends, learn new things and to enjoy the summer without just sitting at home. We have two locations for our summer camp. One is at the Lakeside Elementary School in Honesdale, and the second is at the Wallenpaupack North Primary School. Rich Palazzo runs the camp at Lakeside School along with other camp staff, and Lucy Mazzenga runs the camp at Wallenpaupack North Primary along with other camp staff. At summer camp, the kids will enjoy a number of field trips. They will also enjoy arts and crafts, nature walks, and swimming. You can sign your child up for the two day plan (Tuesday and Thursday), the three day plan (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) or the five day plan (Monday-Friday). Keep an eye out for more information soon.

The greatest part about the programs is that while the kids are playing, you can play too! We have a fully-equipped health center at your disposal whenever the kids have something going on. If you get an annual family membership, you can take advantage of our facility at any time during the day. In addition, you can take advantage of the Carbondale, Scranton, and Pittston facilities also.

The YMCA offers financial assistance to help people who may not be able to afford the full price of our memberships, programs or summer camp. If you would like to apply for financial assistance just stop at the YMCA and pick up a packet to fill out. All information is confidential.

These are only a few of the many things we offer for community children here at the YMCA. Fight that cabin fever and bring your child down for some open gym time, let them play some basketball or to just run around and let them burn off some energy.
