After living a full life, Joan P. Kerrigan died peacefully on February 20, 2013 at the age of 84.
Joan was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1928 to the late Ethel Sofsky and Edward Kilduff. She lived in Massapequa, NY before retiring to Greeley, PA and eventually moving to Niskayuna, NY.
She was married to the late Thomas J. Kerrigan for almost sixty years and is the mother of Thomas Kerrigan (Sharon), James Kerrigan (Carmen), Kathleen K. Duff (Dr. Thomas) and Mary Kerrigan.
She is the grandmother of T. J. Kerrigan (Sara), Dr. Michael Duff (Jennifer), James Kevin Kerrigan (Erin), Jennifer Hersch (Colin) Patrick Duff and Maura Duff.
She is the great-grandmother of Cameron, Abigail, Kelsey, Carson and Carly.
Joan worked for V.I.P. (Victim Intervention Program)in Honesdale, PA before her retirement. She loved to travel, was an avid reader across diverse genres, a trivia wiz, and a member of the Senior Group at St. Kateri.
Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian burial at St. Kateri Tekakwitha R.C. Church (1805 Union St. in Niskayuna) on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 11am. Joan’s nephew, the Reverend Michael Kissane, O. Carm. will preside at the Mass. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers the family is suggesting donations be made to the Carmelites.
