In communities throughout Pennsylvania, people are gathering together to help fight cancer at a unique event called Relay For Life.
Relay is the American Cancer Society’s national signature activity that brings together teams of families and friends from local companies, schools, clubs and organizations to walk around the track in relay fashion. All proceeds raised from this event are used for cancer research, education, prevention, and patient services. Similarly, the event provides a wonderful venue for the promotion and delivery of cancer control activities, including advocacy, prevention and early detection education.
It is not too late to participate, as Relay For Life is always looking for volunteers.
If you would like to learn more about Relay For Life join them at Cora’s 1850 Bistro in Hawley at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20th. The restaurant is located at the corner of Church Street and Welwood Avenue. In addition to their regularly scheduled monthly meeting, this meeting will also be the first of two Bank Nights. Bank Night is a great opportunity to turn in any funds raised to date for Relay For Life.
"With the event only two months away, this will be an important and informative meeting," said Page Hochreither.
Relay For Life of the Greater Lake Region is scheduled for May 18-19, 2013 at the Wallenpaupack Area High School athletic track area.
