  •  Sci-fi movie to be screened March 17

  • On Sunday, March 17, the Wayne County Arts Allianceís Sunday Night Cinema presents the 1973 science fiction thriller Soylent Green.
    Directed by Richard Fleischer, the film stars Charlton Heston and Edward G. Robinson in his final film role. The story is set in New York in a dystopian future in which the city is dilapidated and over-crowded and humankind subsists on food rations. Heston plays detective Robert Thorn, who reveals that "soylent green," one of the rations, isnít the vegetable matter it was assumed to be.
    "Soylent Green" is the next-to-last offering in Sunday Night Cinemaís winter series, which is entitled "Enigmatic Endings: Movies With a Twist." Showings are at 6 p.m. at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce building, 32 Commercial St., Honesdale.
    A donation of $5.00 per person is suggested, to help support the activities of the Arts Alliance. The film will be preceded by a short introduction and followed by a discussion.
