MILFORD - Pike Co. Bar Association (PCBA) President Elizabeth A. Erickson Kameen announced that Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Thomas G. Wilkinson Jr., Esq., and PBA Vice-President Francis X. O’Connor, will visit Pike County on Friday, March 22 to participate in the Continuing Legal Education Program "My Cousin Vinny" sponsored by the Pike County Bar Association. The program will be held at Hotel Fauchere from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Local panelists include: Pike County President Judge Joseph Kameen, Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin, Pike County Chief Public Defender D. Benjamin vanSteenburgh III and former Pike County District Attorney Michael Weinstein, all of whom have capital murder case experience and facilitator and PCBA President, Elizabeth Erickson Kameen. The movie raises legal and ethical considerations regarding a defense attorney’s role in setting forth a defense, permissible conduct by defense and by prosecution, strategy in movie, mistaken identity, application of Pennsylvania law and requirements to be approved as a capital defense attorney in Pennsylvania, a distinction held by vanSteenburgh and Weinstein, both of whom are prominent criminal defense attorneys in Northeast Pennsylvania.
