Pike County Commissioners were informed, March 6, that the 5th annual Pike County visitor's guide, Discover Pike PA is being distributed.
Funded by the hotel and lodging tax collected in the Pocono region and distributed for tourism and marketing projects, Bridget Gelderman stated that 40,000 guides were printed. Bailey Design & Advertising in Honesdale is the publisher. Places to lodge, dine and see are listed and described, and a Pike County map is inserted.
The print edition of the 2013-2014 visitor's guide is complemented with social media accessibility. Visitors may use the web site, smart-phones and electronic tablets to help them plan a vacation in Pike County. The guide has a complete re-design with QR codes, enhanced editorial and coupons to complement advertisements.
Eighty thousand maps were also printed. The guide and map is being distributed to over 300 locations throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey, including Interstate Welcome Centers and Pocono Mountain Tourist Information Centers. Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau (PMVB) is assisting in the distribution.
Carl Wilgus, Executive Director of the PMVB, also reviewed recent work and accomplishments of the Bureau in promoting the region. One of many initiatives, the PMVB currently has 20 live cameras placed around the four county Pocono region, visible online (www.800poconos.com). Local TV outlets have been utilizing the video on their weather reports.
