SCRANTON - A woman from Honesdale riding in a truck on I-81 at Scranton, Monday morning, was arrested after she allegedly attacked the driver and later a State trooper who came to investigate.
Erica Eginton, 32 of Honesdale has been charged with charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and resisting arrest after she allegedly assaulted a 40 year old male from Honesdale by scratching his face and the left side of his head, causing him to bleed. Eginton did this, while the victim was operating a truck along Interstate 81 ay 7:20 a.m.
She repeatedly hit the brake pedal too, police said.
Once the victim pulled off the road, Eginton left the vehicle and started walking on the highway. Scranton police and state police were dispatched to the location for a report of a suspicious person walking along the roadway.
While she tried to reenter the vehicle, Eginton continued to assault the victim, State Police allege. Police prevented her from entering the vehicle. Eginton allegedly responded by striking an officer and as other officers tried to take her into custody, she would not obey their commands and instead she kicked at them, police stated.
Eventually Eginton was handcuffed, but she did end up scratching the hand of Cpl. McDonald with her fingernails as he held the cuffs, trying to maintain control of her next to the interstate.
Eginton was taken to the Lackawanna County Courthouse to await arraignment.
