Wondering how to stop those pesky pimples from popping up due to exercise? Read on!

So after reading all of these blogs, and exercising, and watching what you eat, you look amazing. You look in the mirror to celebrate all your success, and there it is, popping out of your chin like a weed in the middle of your vegetable garden. It’s a PIMPLE!!! This week DJ will be sharing some pointers on helping to protect your skin from breakouts while working out.

If you have any existing skin conditions, you want to avoid doing anything that will make your condition worse, or aggravate it. Avoid wearing clothes that will rub against your skin. If you wear a helmet, hat, sunglasses or other protective equipment while you move, clean it often as these sweaty surfaces can collect dirt and oil that can be transferred to your skin. This can cause pimples and blackheads to form.

Whether you are exercising or not, you want to avoid touching your face. Touching your face leads to blemishes and clogged pores. Touching your face can also transfer oil and bacteria to the skin, leading to possible acne flare-ups. While working out, if you need to, wipe the sweat off of your face using a clean, dry towel and blot your face. DO NOT rub it with the towel, your shirt, or the back of your hand.

If you have longer hair, I advise you to put it up in either a bun or a pony tail. This will keep the hair off your face and neck which will help prevent break outs. You are less likely to touch your face if your hair is pulled up and out of the way. When it comes to wearing makeup try not to wear it to the gym. This helps clog your pores, and gives you more problems than it is worth. Wait until you wash your face after you work out to apply your makeup.
