Robert "Bob" John Vogel, 76, of Paupack, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Green Ridge Personal Care Center in Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary "Beth" Bickhart on May 1, 2012. The couple married on December 29, 1962.
Born on August 30, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Carl Howard and Dorothy Ivy Myers Vogel. He served in the US Navy reserves and later worked at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Great Valley, PA where he was the printing department supervisor before retiring after 42 years. He raised his family in Chester County and enjoyed their weekend trips to their cottage on Lake Wallenpaupack. Following his retirement he and his wife moved to Vero Beach, Florida and in 2006, they moved back to Lake Wallenpaupack to be closer to family.
Bob was a very active member of the Exton Community Baptist Church where served as a Deacon and enjoyed singing in their choir. Currently, he was a member of the Paupack United Methodist Church in Paupack Pa.
When Bob was younger he enjoyed bowling and looked forward to his Tuesday night league. Bob loved sailing on Lake Wallenpaupack. The first boat that he owned, he built in his garage. A family man, everything was done as a family whether it be going to church or doing yard work. He enjoyed making home movies, fishing, reading James Patterson books, watching western movies and traveling with his wife.
He is survived by his daughters Susan Davis and husband Brian of Colchester, VT and Cynthia Cepko and husband Christopher of Paupack; his grandchildren Nicole, Alison and Robert Davis ;a brother Jack Vogel and wife Charlotte of Ft. Washington, PA; a nephew Scott Vogel and was preceded in death by his oldest nephew John Vogel.
Cremation services are being handled by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20th at the Paupack United Methodist Church, Rt. 507, Paupack at noon. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to service time.
