    • Drug Awareness for Parents
    : 10 a.m. - Noon. Dingman Twp. Vol. Fire Dept., 608 Log Tavern Rd, Dingman Twp (.6 mi from Rt. 739) FOR ADULTS ONLY!, due to the sensitive nature of the displays and the explicit and frank discussion.     • Forest Restoration Workshop: Milford Experimental Forest, Pike County. Learn how to improve the health of your forest. Using American Chestnut reintroduction as an example. Learn how to find a forester, mark timber, implement a harvest and plant chestnuts and oaks. Includes two sessions Indoors 9 a.m. – Noon, and outdoors 1 – 3 p.m. May attend AM , PM session or both.     There will be raffles, 50/50 drawings, and luminaries, which honor those who have struggled with cancer. The Luminaria bags can be decorated by the purchaser and will be displayed at the Relay For Life event on May 18th and 19th. This is all to benefit the American Cancer Society.

    • AARP Driver Safety Program:
    1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Hawley Senior Ctr., Designed for drivers 50 and older. To qualify for the 4 (four) hour class, evidence must be provided with pre- registration or at class registration that you have previously taken one of the classes within the last thirty-six months (3 years). Such evidence could be a copy of your Course Completion Certificate from the previous course or a copy of your auto insurance policy that indicates you are currently receiving a discount for Defensive Driving. Remember to bring your drivers’ license and a pen to class. Call the Wayne County Area Agency on Aging at 253-4262 to make a reservation/ directions questions and for cost information and specifics regarding these classes.

    • AARP Driver Safety Program:
    Apr. 25 & Apr. 26. 8 a.m. – Noon. Honesdale Sr. Ctr., Designed for drivers 50 and older. The eight hour class, taught by a volunteer instructor, is given in a two day period in two, 4 hour sessions. The non-refundable fee is $14.00 ($12.00 for AARP members), paid in advance when registering for any class. All AARP members, bring your membership card. Payment by check or money order to AARP. Class size is limited, advance reservation required to assure placement in the class. Those completing the course will be given a certificate which is valid for three years. Attendance at both class days is required for certification. Remember to bring your drivers’ license and a pen to class. Call the Wayne County Area Agency on Aging at 253-4262 to make a reservation/ directions /questions. Lunch is served at noon daily at each of the senior centers. Those who are interested in eating lunch at a center are asked to call at least one day before the date of the program to make reservation. Any individual over the age of 60 may reserve a lunch and contribute to the cost of the meal on a donation basis. If you are under the age of 60, the cost of the meal is $7.10
