HAWLEY - The Hawley Treasure House is celebrating "Early Years Are Learning Years," this week by hosting an Open House on Wednesday April 17th from 6 to 8 p.m.
This week has been designated as "The Week of the Young Child." The special week is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs.
The center will be opening their classrooms to the public to display the different programs and the curriculum that is offered. Throughout the week, there will be surprise readers from the community like District Judge Bonnie Carney, and Jean Kammer, Hawley Library's Youth Services Manager.
As part of the special week, the center will have, "Parent Play Time" everyday so parents and grandparents can go into the classroom to see what the children are learning and get an understanding of how significant playtime is for children's development.
For further information about the open house or the center's programs, call (570)226-2153 or visit the center at 17 Columbus Ave, Hawley. Treasure House is located in the same building as the Hawley Fire Department.
