Investigators searched a second man's home yesterday in connection to the ricin-laced letters sent to government officials last week, the Associated Press reports. Everett Dutschke, the owner of the house, said police had searched his property last week as well. The FBI also searched ditches, culverts and the woods in the surrounding area. Charges against the original suspect, Paul Kevin Curtis, were dropped with the option of being reinstated later. Curtis and Dutschke had reportedly had disagreements in the past but had not been in contact since 2010. Dutschke had also lost an election the Mississippi House of Representatives to the son of a recipient of one of the letters, Mississippi County judge Sadie Holland. He also publicly disparaged her at a polical rally in 2007.
    Quote of note
"This is an unusually dangerous virus for humans." - Keiji Fukuda, WHO's assistant director-general for health, on the recent bird flu outbreak in China. Authorities believe this strain of the disease is more easily passed from poultry to humans than the virus responsible for the 2004-07 outbreak.
