    New scam reported
    REGION- State Police Honesdale caution that a new scam is circulating where people are getting text messages supposedly from Pennstar Bank. The text message says that their debit and bank cards are being deactivated and that you need to call the number back on the text message and give your banking information in order to reactivate your cards.
    This is not the case, police warn. Do not call the number given to you and do not give out any personal or bank information. If you have a question please look up your bank's telephone number and call the bank yourself. Identity thieves will use any tactic to gain your information.
    Statue damaged
    HONESDALE - Honesdale Borough Police are currently investigating damage to a marble statue in front of St. John’s Catholic Church, on Terrace Street.
    Sometime between Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 unknown person(s) broke the head of the statue.
    Anyone with information is asked to contact the Honesdale Police at 253-1900.
    Jeep Cherokee stolen
    HONESDALE - Honesdale Borough Police are currently investigating a theft of a red 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
    The jeep is bearing PA registration # JDJ-6351. The jeep was taken from the driveway of the victim on West Park Street, in Honesdale Borough.
    Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Ronald Kominski at 253-1900.
    Crash on I-84
    SALEM TWP. - A 2001 Honda Odyssey mini-van crashed along Interstate 84, Salem Township, Sunday afternoon, April 28. The vehicle carried seven people from Riverdale, Georgia; the driver, Raquan Rashard Green, age 20, was taken away by helicopter with moderate injuries. All others received minor to moderate injuries, said State Police Honesdale.
    At 3:42 p.m., for unknown reasons, the vehicle did not stay in its lane as it headed westbound. The mini-van went over the guide rail on the north side, hit several trees and rotated, coming to rest facing northeast.
    Hamlin Fire & Rescue responded, as well as other ambulance units and Life Flight 3.
