DELAWARE TWP.- Virginia Shamlian kicked-off her May 21st primary campaign for tax collector at Akenac Park this Sunday.

Mrs. Shamlian reminded supporters that Delaware Township and Pike County taxpayers can use Akenac Park free of charge. She applauded township supervisors' recent unanimous approval of a budget which pays off the mortgage for Akenac Park, decreases taxes, and reduces the tax collector's compensation.

Virginia Shamlian said that property taxes paid are hard-earned and help protect owners' valuable asset. "I have experience in customer service in private and public sectors of the economy and promise to respond to taxpayer needs."

The Republican primary candidate earned a bachelor's degree from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and a master's degree from Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, New Jersey.

Mrs. Shamlian is president of HomeSure Inspector, Inc, has over ten years managment experience of a HUD housing complex, and actively volunteers in the community. She is past president of PMLE 5, 6, 7 Community Association and she is a current member of the Delaware Township Emergency Management team.
