HAWLEY- Each month during the school year the Rotary Club of Hawley recognizes a Student of the Month from Wallenpaupack Area High School based on his or her community and school volunteer activities. All 10 students will be honored at a luncheon at the WAHS Lakeside Café on May 16.
MARCH - Dominique Tarbell, daughter of Audrey and Mitchell Tarbell of Greentown. In her four years with Volunteers in Paupack, Dominique, the Volunteers current president, has given over 300 hours to projects such as food drives, coat and cell phone collections, the Hawley Hoedown and Hawley Winterfest. As a member of the Art Club, she worked on many projects. Dominique volunteered for the United Way Adult Literacy program and the local food pantry. She plans to attend Lackawanna College majoring in the Hospitality and Culinary Arts program with the goal of becoming a pastry chef.
APRIL - Brooke Ezzo, daughter of Donna Fultana and Ronald Ezzo of Newfoundland. Brooke’s community activities include organizing three Red Cross Blood Drives and volunteering at the Salem Library’s Children’s Room. She serves as a Peer Helper, a member of SADD, H20 for Life and Wallenpaupack Cares. A member of the National Honor Society, Brooke works with the WAHS Players and the WAHS News Team. Following graduation, Brooke will attend West Chester University majoring in biochemistry in order to enter the medical field.
MAY - Tyler Bensen has volunteered for over six years with St. Ann’s Youth groups. Tyler, a member of the National Honor Society, is the son of Doreen and John Bensen of Greeley. He served as guide for the 4th grade Local History Club for the past three years. Tyler is very involved in band and choral groups and the WAHS Players.He serves as producer/director of the WAHS Morning Show. He plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh majoring in electrical engineering.
JUNE - Kaitlynne Young is the daughter of Lynnette Grimaldi of Hemlock Farms. She volunteered for the past four years at Hemlock Farms Fire Department. She also worked on four Red Cross blood drives and served as President of the Community Youth Center. For four years Kaitlynne has been a Peer Helper at Wallenpaupack. She is a member of the National Honor Society, FBLA and the Foreign Language Club. Following graduation, she plans to attend Penn State majoring in accounting and business.
