The Pike County Conservation District is celebrating June and Pike County’s extraordinary water quality with two hikes at the southern and northern ends of the County.
On Saturday, June 8th at 9 a.m., meet the Pike County Watershed Specialist at the parking lot of Toms Creek Picnic Area on Egypt Mills Road.
Toms Creek is a crystal clear, exceptional value stream flowing through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area in Lehman Township. This section of Toms Creek was previously owned by a private fishing club that did extensive trout habitat work on the stream.
The program will include a one mile stroll down a gentle trail along the creek, seeking native wildflowers and wildlife. This program is perfect for families and spring lovers of all ages. The trail is located on Egypt Mills Road, just off 209, 14 miles south of Milford and 1 mile north of Bushkill Falls Road.
On Saturday, June 22, meet 9 a.m. at the parking lot for State Game Land #316 on Masthope Road. This hour long hike will explore Masthope Creek, a beautiful high quality stream that is located in the northern reaches of Pike County in Lackawaxen Township.
You must call the Conservation District at (570)226-8220 by Thursday, June 20 to sign up and for directions.
