Pennies From Heaven Caleb’s Foundation raised over $44,000 at their annual Tricky Tray fundraiser that was held on April 28th at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Restaurant.
There were 112 theme baskets raffled off due to the generosity of family, friends, local businesses and the community as a whole. The money raised will go towards helping families who have a critically ill child fighting for their life. More than 210 families have been assisted in 3 years, said Nichole Granville, Caleb's mother.
Pennies From Heaven was started in loving memory of Caleb, a 2 year old boy with an amazing spirit and energy for life that was unmatched. On February 25th 2007, Caleb was granted his angel wings after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.
"The response to help out was overwhelming and I cannot begin to express my thanks to everyone who supported our event. Over 400 people donated items or made monetary donations, and the amount of volunteers who lent a hand before, during and after the tricky tray was amazing," said Granville. "Ehrhardt’s was packed once again and we raised an incredible total of $44,000! The community has always been such an integral part of our success and this year was no exception. You have given us wonderful validation for all we are trying to accomplish for families with a sick child. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support in all we do."
Caleb’s Foundation began as a support system for parents with a sick child. Granville said that their mission has been the same since day one and that is to help parents by relieving the stress of financial burdens at home. "We have helped by covering rent and mortgage payments, electric and medical bills, other utility bills and much more," she said.
Next year’s Tricky Tray is set for Sunday, April 27th.
