Superintendent John J. Donahue announced May 22 that work will begin next week on U. S. Route 209 through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
Work will consist of pavement patching, crack sealing, and a slurry seal application between mile markers 17 and 21, at the north end of the park. A slurry seal is a pavement preservation treatment consisting of fine aggregates and asphalt that seals and extends the life of the pavement.
The project also includes improved lane markings with reflective centerline markers and centerline rumble strips.
Motorists should expect lane closures and some traffic delays during the project which should be completed within two weeks.
