HAWLEY - Four local creative and performing artists and teachers are donating their skills and time in Hawley this summer in a series of arts workshops to help strengthen creativity in young minds.
Instructors include active community members and creative artists, Laurie A. Guzda, Jill Carletti, Robert Tellefson and Jason Brian Merrill. The program will also donate fifty percent of proceeds towards local non-profit organizations which foster creativity in our youth.
Jill Carletti stated, "We hope to encourage kids to explore their personal creativity or begin to discover it through these workshops. The arts help teach us how to be good communicators while building confidence and strengthening personal character."
Four different art forms will be introduced in this workshop series, including Acting, Writing, Art and Music. The program is available for 7-12 years olds on eight Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and for 12-17 years olds between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Classes will be held on Saturdays June 1 through July 27th with the exception of July 6th in the Boiler Room at the Hawley Silk Mill located at 8 Silk Mill Drive (off Route 6).
