Hotel Fauchere in Milford is sponsoring Pike County’s first Food and Wine Faire, Saturday, June 1st. Hotel Fauchere is partnering with Upstate Wine Country, producers of quality wine festivals, beer festivals and other events celebrating Agritourism throughout Eastern Pennsylvania and Central New York.
The Faire will be held from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on the grounds directly behind the hotel (along Blackberry Alley, between E. Catherine Street and E. High Street). The hotel is at 401 Broad Street.
The festival offers area residents the opportunity to become acquainted with a number of Pennsylvania wineries. "Pennsylvania wines are up-and-comers and starting to attract national attention. I’ve been really pleased with how the industry has developed in recent years," said Executive Chef Christopher Bates, who last year won the title Best Young Sommelier in the World 2012 and just returned from winning TopSomm 2013, the most respected Sommelier Competition in America.
What is planned
The festival will feature an outdoor Garden Party and a series of indoor Meet the Chef/Meet the Vintner, food and wine pairings and workshops at the Hotel Fauchere.
Participating wineries will offer both samplings and sale of their products. Participants include Antler Ridge Winery (with tasting rooms in Bradford County, Montgomery County, Pike County and Wayne County); Bartolai Winery(Luzerne County); Blue Mountain Vineyards & Cellars (Lehigh County); Capra Collina Winery (Lackawanna County); Feronne Family Winery (Lackawanna County); Galen Glen Winery (Schuylkill County); Pinnacle Ridge Winery (Berks County); Sand Castle Winery (Bucks County); and Winterland Winery (Sullivan County).
The festival will also feature wine-themed photographs, cards and apparel by Live By The Vine; handcrafted jewelry by Johnny’s Jewels; candles, soaps and lotions by Bru’s Mountain Bath & Body; fine cigars by The Cigar Lady; farmstead artisan cheeses from Calkins Creamery; freshly-popped kettle corn by Country Girl Kettle Corn; oils and balsamics by Farmhouse Gourmet; beef jerky Joe’s Jerky; maple syrup by Nebzydoski’s Maple Farm; homemade fudge and strawberry shortcake by The Fudge Lady and baked goods by The Patisserie Fauchere.
How to get tickets
General Admission tickets for the wine festival are $20 in advance and $30 at the gate, day of the event. Designated Driver/Under 21 tickets are available in advance and at the gate for just $5.
Each General Admission ticket includes admission, complimentary wine tasting glass and the opportunity to enjoy sampling the wines of all participating wineries at no extra charge. The holders of Designated Driver/ Under 21 tickets are not allowed to sample the wines. Food concessions are NOT included in either ticket price.
