The Upper Delaware GLBT Center (UDGLBT) has announced its 2nd annual "Prude Weekend" to be held in Milford on Saturday, June 22nd and 23rd. "This event to celebrate the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (GLBTQ) community would not be possible without the warmth, acceptance and generosity of our allies and supporters in Milford and the surrounding areas," said organizers.
The first event, on Saturday, June 22nd at 9 p.m., will be a Pride Dance at the Dingmans Township Fire Department “Hall of Romance” located at 680 Log Tavern Road, west of Milford. Entry to the dance is $10. Music will be provided by DJ Mark Krebs.
On Sunday, June 23rd starting at 11 a.m. there will be a Family Pride Picnic at Milford Beach in Milford. GLBTQ individuals along with their families, friends and allies are welcome. Bring your suits and towels and enjoy a dip in the river, then join them in the pavilion for hamburgers and hot dogs and lots of food.
"This is a day of celebration and pride. The families represented are an example of empowered people who support each other while being respected members of the community at large," organizers stated. If you plan on attending please email email@example.com - with the word "PICNIC" in the subject line, your name and the number in your party so that we can plan appropriately. The UDGLBT will provide hamburgers and hot dogs and will send an email to those coming with suggestions on what you can bring. There is no charge to attend, but we do ask that each family bring a special dish to share. The park charges a $10 parking fee!
The UDGLBT community will finish Pride Month by marching, for the second time, in the NYC Heritage of Pride Parade on Sunday, June 30th (for information on participating in the march please see our website at www.udglbt.org).
The Upper Delaware GLBT Center is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides services to the GLBTQ community in an effort to support, empower and encourage acceptance. Additional information is available at www.udglbt.org.
