Club member Richard Pearson of Phoenix, Arizona, enjoys working with both wood and metal. But when he switched from working with metal to milling wood, he had to waste valuable time removing the cross vise and cleaning the oil and metal shavings from his drill press. To make switching between materials easy, he built a simple table that quickly clamps into the cross vise. Now he can leave the vise in place on his drill press when he works with wood, and the table keeps him from accidentally drilling into the metal vise surfaces. In addition, the vise allows Richard to make fine adjustments to the table’s position while working.
