CHERRY RIDGE- The 11th Annual Northeast WoodCarvers Roundup will be Sunday evening July 21st through Thursday the 25th at the Cherry Ridge Campsites and Lodging near Honesdale. Anyone who carves and would like to improve their skills or even learn how to carve are invited to attend the Roundup. There will be free instruction from some of the most renowned woodcarvers of the northeast. Sharing ideas and techniques is the main focus of the Roundup. No admission charge, the only compensation is for the materials needed in the workshop. Non carving visitors are welcome at anytime during the Roundup. Registration is required when people arrive, as there will be a registration table in the main building where people can start registering Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. Everyone attending the Roundup must complete a "Roundup Registration" form and a "waiver of liability."
Carving classes are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 9 a.m. to noon, 1 to 4 p.m. and Thursday ending at 3 p.m. There are evening classes available. Sunday evening at 6pm in Hall #1, there will be introductions of each workshop leader. Each presenter will give a short description of their workshops, followed by class sign up at 7 p.m. There are evening events and activities planned from an auction, show and tell, ball carving. There will be a variety of classes offered from Alpine relief, chip carving, wood burning, caricature, birds, knife sharpening, air brushing, bark houses, marquetry and kohlrosing. The Roundup is sponsored by the Cherry Ridge Carvers and the Cherry Ridge Campsites. The second event of the year will be in the Fall from September 27 to 29th, with a Quilter's Retreat at the same time.
