The Dyberry Day Camp north of Honesdale, has received a quad bicycle for use by their campers.
Traveling all the way from Tom's River in New Jersey, the bicycle had a prior life as a rental on the boardwalk before making its way to Honesdale. There was a time when Michael Lalor once owned a bicycle rental concession on the boardwalk when he resided in Toms River. Moving forward a few years, however, Lalor now lives in Paupack and when he recently met Robert Schwartz of Hawley, he asked the man if he knew of an organization that was in need of a bicycle. Schwartz happens to be associated with the Hawley Challenger Baseball organization, which runs a baseball league for challenged youngsters. Through this he was familiar with the Dyberry Day Camp, a day camp for children 6-21 with various developmental (physical and mental) delays and sponsored by The Arc, Wayne County.
Consequently, the bike was delivered by way of Sickler’s Bike Shoppe by Michael Brennan, another friend of The Arc and Bike-Hike chairperson for Wallenpaupack School District, to the camp this July. The campers are truly excited about the vehicle. They enjoy just sitting in it and "driving" with the steering wheel. The Dyberry campers wish to thank everyone involved with the exchange of the bicycle, but, especially, Michael Lalor for his generosity.
