WAYMART -Come and learn about the Lake Lodore Amusement Park that was a big attraction a century ago in Waymart, serviced by steam passenger trains.

A power-point presentation will be held at the D&H Gravity Railroad Depot Museum Saturday, August 10 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Jane Varcoe will discuss the history of the amusement park, which was located on the grounds of what is now Camp Ladore (the spelling has changed), run by the Salvation Army.

Steam boat rides and a huge water slide were among the attractions at the old amusement park. The old merry-go-round carousal building still stands.

Admission is free. Donations will be appreciated. The D&H Gravity Railroad Depot Museum, at 118 South St., Waymart, is the headquarters of the Waymart Area Historical Society.

The museum is open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m., and at other times by appointment. For more information call (570) 488-6750.
