William Joseph Malti Jr., 73, of Hawley, died at Wayne Woodlands Manor on Monday, July 29, 2013.

Born in Honesdale, a son of the late William Joseph Malti Sr. and the late Florettia Kennedy Malti, he resided all of his life in the Honesdale/Hawley area.

He served in the Army National Guard. He was one of the original co-owners of B&B Dodge in Honesdale and Hawley. Later he and his brother established B&R Motors in Hawley. After 35 years in the auto-body business he moved on to building spec houses in the Hawley area.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed driving stock cars at the Beach Lake Raceway. He was an accomplished pilot that flew out of Cherry Ridge and Honesdale airports, and, until recently, was a member of the Cherry Ridge Pilots Association.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Malti of Hawley; three step-sons, Jay Newsome of Hawley, Scott Newsome of Naples FL, and Gerald Miller of Hawley; two step-daughters, Kelly Newsome Savini of Hawley and Deborah Miller of Meza, AZ; five step-grandsons, Philip Kreiter of Boston, MA, Trevor Newsome of Tafton, Brandon Newsome of Hawley, and Tucker and Chase Savini of Hawley; two step-granddaughters, Jennifer and Jodi Miller of Hawley; three brothers, Gerald and David Malti of Honesdale, and Ron Malti of Hawley; two sisters, Joyce Eldridge of Youngsville, LA, Margaret Gaspard of Lafayette, LA, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Nancy Zuislak of Honesdale.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6th at 11 a.m. at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. Friends may visit on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. As per his request, cremation will follow. Condolences: www.hesslingfuneralhome.com.
