PALMYRA TWP. (PIKE) - Pa. State Police Blooming Grove issued a report that Diane Bernstel, who was struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk near Lake Wallenpaupack Sunday night, Aug. 11, has died.
Bernstel, who was age 56 and from Paupack, had been airlifted to Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton where she was listed in critical condition. The Lackawanna County Coroner's Office declared her deceased on Tuesday, Aug. 13.
No further information was released concerning the investigation or if it was still active. Bernstel was walking within a crosswalk north across Route 6 from the dike area of Lake Wallenpaupack at 8:30 p.m. The driver of a 2000 Ford Mustang did not yield to the pedestrian and struck her with the front passenger side.
The driver of the car was not injured, police stated.
