HONESDALE- A special event is being planned for Saturday, September 7th in Central Park in Honesdale. A number of area bands and musicians have offered their talents in order to raise money for the work of the Honesdale Area Ministerium. Music will be playing on the stage from 12 to 7 p.m., interrupted at 5 p.m. for an ecumenical service of Holy Communion, celebrating the joint ministry shared amongst the churches in our community.

Pastor Rob Kazinski from Central United Methodist Church will be the guest preacher, with Leanna & JR Stanton of Damascus United Methodist leading the music and Father Ed Erb worship leader.

Dave Seber, coordinator, has enlisted The Local Boys, The Paul Kellogg Band and soloist Janet Burgan and others to provide the entertainment for the afternoon. Free-will offerings will be accepted throughout.

The Ministerium is comprised of area churches who regularly help out those in need with food, gasoline, housing, medical and health supplies and transportation. Proceeds from the concert will help fund that work. The churches also band together for community worship services at Thanksgiving and during Lent, as well as providing the baccalaureate service for graduates at Honesdale High School.

Area churches will have stands that day selling food and other goods along 9th Street. In addition, a huge Yard Sale - indoors and outdoors - will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Vendors are welcome to rent a table by calling Grace Episcopal Church at (570) 253-2760.

Central Park is located on Church Street in Honesdale between 9th and 10th Streets. "We are grateful to the Honesdale Borough and the Creative Arts Council, "remarked Fr. Ed Erb, president of the Ministerium, "for allowing us to use the stage and park. Not to mention the musicians who are offering their time and talent. It really shows the community spirit of our town."
