  • As a wrap up of the summer, the Downtown Hawley Partnership and Lighthouse Harbor sponsored the fourth annual Wally Lake Fest last weekend that brought countless visitors to the region to enjoy an array of activities on land and on the waters of Lake Wallenpaupack.
Many other activities were held in the lake area and in downtown Hawley.
Saturday afternoon there was a boat parade that was sponsored by Chant Realtors. Peoples' imaginations were apparent as boats were decorated with everything from a teepee, a western wagon, a pirate ship and more. The boat that had the teepee and people dressed as American Indians won a prize of $1,000. Additionally, there were 11 other prizes from area businesses that included gift certificates to area restaurants and other items.
Throughout the day, three bands performed on a floating stage in front of the dike and visitors center. The bands: Gone Crazies a contemporary rock cover band, a Bob Marley tribute band the George Wesley Band and a top 40 cover band the Tommy Guns band performed for free while people listened from the waters of Lake Wallenpaupck or the shores around the lake.
Keith Williams, the manager of the Lake Wallenpaupack Visitors Center said the turnout was fantastic and the boats were impressive. His favorite though, was the boat with the teepee.
