HAWLEY- AMSKier Insurance has announced Hometown Creative HeARTS – a contest for Hawley, Honesdale and surrounding area youths to express creatively what they love most about their hometown.

"We are very excited to have the opportunity to combine art, youth and community altogether for one great project – three things we greatly value at AMSkier " said Aimee Skier. "This is where we live and work, we are neighbors and friends, it’s a great feeling to encourage creativity among our kids" stated Jennifer Fountain who is coordinating the contest for AMSkier.

Writing entries include poems, short stories, fantasy, fan fiction, or an excerpt of a larger work. Written pieces may not exceed 1,000 words. Photography entries include black/white, color, film, digital or digitally enhanced photographs. All entries must be matted. Each photo must have the artist’s name on the back. Art entries include any original work in any medium – painting, sculpture, mobile, mixed-media, wood, et al. All entries must include a completed submission form. Sculptures may not exceed 50lbs. 2D works may not exceed 20 square feet.

Three age groups: 6-8, 9-11, 12-15 will compete in three formats – Art, Photography and Writing. Each winner will receive $25. Second and Third place winners will receive a Certificate of Excellence. Submissions must be dropped off at AMSKier, 209 Main Street in Hawley, September 3rd through September 30th between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday – Friday along with a submission form. Forms are located throughout Hawley and Honesdale or can be downloaded at: amskier.com/news/9. Winners will be announced in October. Details will be announced.
