To the Editor:
WAHS is making a big mistake by pulling prayer from their commencement service.
The Separation of Church & State argument does not hold up! If an educated American reads the US Constitution, they will discover that the phrase does not exist!
Thomas Jefferson purportedly wrote the phrase in a letter. The idea stems from protecting religious expression from the control of the government & the king/despots.
Yet, this is the thing that is happening!
No school has had to pay a fine or be censured for allowing prayer - in spite of threats and bullying to the contrary. Prayer lasts a couple of minutes as the assembly asks God for a blessing. TAKE THE BLESSING! If you don't want it, then play with your Iphone, stick fingers in your ears, go to the bathroom, but do not stop others from enjoying the benefits/right of prayer. Pray to YOUR god or goddesses, and I defend your right. FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real. There is too much fear of government, bullies, and lawyers. Why?
Democracy is in grave danger. Don't take this laying down, people. Rise up and let your voice be heard. YOUR religious expression and freedom is at stake. Beware! WAHS, don't tuck and run. Stand your ground and stop being afraid of the bullies. Show the students the power of democracy and faith. Much is on the line...
God help you... and us all.
