A car hit trees and flipped over on Interstate 84 Westbound, September 6. State Police Blooming Grove said that the driver was ejected and suffered major injury.
The driver, Jonathan P. Magee, age 29 of Woburn, MA, was traveling too quickly around a right curve, said police, when he lost control of the vehicle. This was at 5:15 p.m. in Blooming Grove Township.
The 2008 Honda Accord traveled approximately 200 feet along the south shoulder when it struck a culvert. The car then slid sideways along the shoulder, struck several trees and overturned.
Blooming Grove Fire Department and Hemlock Farms EMS assisted at the scene. A helicopter landing zone was set up at Blooming Grove Road and Blueberry Lane. Magee was flown to Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton where he was listed in critical condition, said Trooper Shawn Smith. The driver was charged with a speeding violation.
