Scheduled to be on hand will be pet therapy dogs Twiggy and Angelika; Big Brothers Big Sisters; Head Start; Early Intervention; Child Advocacy; Family Health Services; Make-A-Wish; Pike County Safe Kids Coalition and other agencies. There were 22 agencies planning to come, as of two weeks before the fair.
Pike County Safe Kids Coalition will be at the fair from 5 to 7 p.m. and will be conducting car seat safety checks.
Lori DeVoe, NE Regional Coordinator, The Special Kids Network, said that this is their second Resource Fair. Geared for families with children of any age, DeVoe said that the fair is designed to help people learn what is available to them, and make decisions on where to turn.
The Special Kids Network, for example, helps families on a one and one basis, to show them what help can be provided. Parents with a child with a disability can feel lost, not knowing where to turn. The Special Kids Network, in partnership with PA Elks Major Projects Inc., helps them get the needed information on a wide variety of issues.
Free raffles and children's activities are planned. Agencies bring prizes for the raffles, and activities for the kids. Tours will be available of fire trucks, an ambulance and a police car.
