  • The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) has announced plans for a dinner dance on November 2, to kick off its "21st Century Sustainability Campaign." The "Wild Things Ball," inspired by Maurice Sendak's story and the wild creatures of the Poconos, will take place at the Hotel Fauchere, with a three-course dinner, dancing and a small auction of unique opportunities and items.
According to PEEC's Executive Director, Jeff Rosalsky, the Sustainability Campaign will add new dimensions to PEEC's longtime mission of educating children and adults about environmental stewardship. He said the program will help teach people about PEEC's sustainable practice such as the inclusion of various kinds of sustainable energy systems such as: solar, wind, super-insulation and geothermal that can power and heat buildings at PEEC.
Additionally, Peter Bohlin who is an architect of the Apple retail stores and PEEC's eco-friendly dining hall, has designed a 'sustainable' lodge to be built at PEEC, Rosalsky added.
