  • Community Career and Training site open in southern Wayne

  • NEWFOUNDLAND- Workforce Wayne/Northeast Innovation Alliance recently hosted a Grand Re-Opening of the Community Career and Training site located in the Newfoundland Area Public Library, located on Main Street in Newfoundland.
    The electronic and print resources have received updated content and new items have been added. Community members attended the event to learn about the available resources offered. At the Community Career & Training sites, the public will find computers, resume writing software, electronic and print resources, and a new, easy-to-find centralized location for all of the books that the libraries offer on careers, career testing, resumes, cover letters, and occupational guidance. Individuals who are seeking career exploration tools, resume writing software, or information on job seeking can access these resources during library hours.

    Northeast Innovation Alliance (formerly known as Workforce Wayne) partners have been working together since 2005, and in 2008 was able to formally incorporate and formalize their partnerships under a Wall Street West grant. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of business, education, government, economic development, employment services, and community entities in the Wayne and Pike County region, Northeast Innovation Alliance seeks regional transformation and is working toward an effective workforce delivery system through developing career opportunities; strengthening skills in the workforce; and supporting lifelong learning.
    Their 25-member Board of Directors and sub-committees are strong and thriving. Through Workforce Wayne’s efforts, more than $1,000,000 in grant funding has been brought to Wayne and Pike Counties.
