Friday afternoon, students at Delaware Valley Elementary School performed a Veterans Day assembly where veterans were recognized and the students presented their musical talents through patriotic pieces.
School Principal, Aaron Weston noted how many youth don't realize what the servicemen and women sacrifice by protecting the country. Personally, he thanked the veterans and challenged everyone to thank people in uniform.
With big smiles and a few looks of uncertainly, a few of the elementary school students walked into the gymnasium alongside their veteran fathers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles and family friends, as part of the assembly. Before the assembly, a few students were recorded, thanking their family members who have served.
Aside from the students' instrumental abilities, their singing talents were also demonstrated by singing songs like, "We are one nation."
Weston said students learn more than just academia in school, but also, "the values that make this country the greatest country."
