    Rules & Regulations
Please take the time to read these guidelines as they apply to our 33rd Big Buck Contest.
If you're fortunate enough to bring down a buck in Pike and Wayne Counties during the 2013-2014 PA Antlered Deer Rifle Season, enter your buck within 48 hours of tagging into our contest.
The largest buck is determined by the largest rack.
We'll measure the distance of each curve of the rack and the span across the widest part of the rack. Then we'll add the number of PA legal points shown on the rack.
The highest total wins. Tiebreaker is the distance between brow tines then overall spread if necessary.
Winners will be announced following the conclusion of the PA Antlered Deer Season.
Racks must be measured within 48 hours of tagging at The Wayne Independent Office, 220 8th Street, Honesdale, PA, Monday thru Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Page 4 of 4 - Measuring will also be done at The News Eagle, 8 Silk Mill Drive, Suite 101, Hawley, PA 18428, also Monday thru Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
If youth or older entrants cannot adhere to the 48 hour rule, please make arrangements by calling 570-226-4547 or 296-4547 x 112. Ask for Glenn Khoury, contest coordinator.
Contest begins on Monday, December 2nd and ends Monday, December 14th at 4 p.m.
Prizes are non-transferable. The News Eagle and Wayne Independent do not accept any responsibility for prizes.
By submitting your deer, entrants agree to allow The News Eagle & Wayne Independent to use your photo for publication and promotional purposes.
All entries must be legally tagged according to current PA Game Commission rules and regulations. If your deer is in the prize running or if you're even considering mounting your buck, it's imperative that the head is caped out and frozen as soon as possible.
Freshness of the deer hide and head is of the utmost importance in obtaining a lifelike mount.
Failure to do so will forfeit your prize mount at the discretion of the contest taxidermists.
For recommendations on preserving your deer for mounting, contact a taxidermist of your choice or our contest taxidermists, Rod's Taxidermy, 845-887-4615 and Buckshot Taxidermy, 973-875-6544.
