The Pennsylvania State Police in Dunmore is investigating a residential burglary that occurred at 8 Peat Bog Road in Clifton Township, Lackawanna County on Wednesday, January 15 at approximately 11:50 a.m.
This incident occurred when Aaron Castro, 29 years old, Clarks Summit, Pa., entered the residence on Peat Bog Road by kicking in the back door. Mr. Castro was observed at the residence by Richard Grab, neighbor and the son-in-law of the homeowner. Mr. Grab was armed with a handgun and confronted Mr. Castro inside the residence. Mr. Castro dropped the property he was holding and ran from the house. Mr. Castro entered his pickup truck and Mr. Grab attempted to stop him. Mr. Castro began to drive his truck and was dragging Mr. Grab. Mr. Grab then fired one shot into the rear tire of the truck, and was able to disengage himself from the truck, which then fled the scene.
Mr. Castro was located a short distance from the scene and taken into custody.
Mr. Castro was charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Criminal Mischief, and arraigned at the Lackawanna County Processing Center. Mr. Castro was remanded to the Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $100,000.00 bail and a preliminary hearing is set for January 22, 2014.
