  • PALMYRA TWP. (PIKE)- The Tanglewood Recreation Committee has done a good deed again. Throughout the month of December, nonperishable items were collected and in the coming week, the donations will go to the food pantry at the Methodist Church in Hawley. An annual collection, committee members would like to thank everyone who supported this year's collection. Boxes were placed at the IGA stores in the region where an array of foods accumulated.
Committee members have said that they wish the food helps those in need and by helping someone others will be inspired to help too.
Linda Perchick was involved in the collection and she said that it seems as though the collection has grown since it started three years ago.
Committee member, Ellie Koelling said the success of the collection is, "amazing," because of the difficult winter weather. Noting the large amount of donations, Koelling said, "you think that everybody has everything they need, but that's not necessarily true."
With a variety of foods collected, Connie Lichtenberger noted that foods like the small containers of apple sauce were great for families with younger children.
As many face difficult financial times, Rosemarie Mazzotta said it was great to see the number of people who donated items. She added that, the donations are an aspect of sharing which is, "what we're supposed to be doing."
Tanglewood T.N.C.A. members involved: Recreation Chairperson Jean March, Liz LoPire,
Beverly Schnurman, Linda Mertz, Ginger Errickson, Connie Lichtenberger, Jane Carbondale,
Mary Ann Young, Rosemarie Mazzotta, Linda Perchick and Ellie Koelling.
