HAWLEY - Believe it or not, Spring is just around the corner as far as the Hawley Public Library is concerned!
That’s because plans are now underway for its annual Booklovers Ball, slated for Saturday, April 5, at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Resort on Lake Wallenpaupack, Tafton.
A major fundraising event for the Library, the evening will be highlighted by music, dancing, a silent auction, and a buffet featuring the foods of such far flung places as Belize, Vietnam, Macedonia, as well as Philadelphia, PA. Dress is smart casual.
At 6 p.m. the evening begins with “The First Chapter,” a cash bar accompanied by hors d’oeuvres.  Dinner, “The Main Plot,” is set for 7 p.m.  It will be accompanied with entertainment by Jeanette Hinton of JAM Productions who will also provide music for dancing later in the evening.  As the “Conclusion”, caramel apple crisp ala mode will be served.
Sponsors for the Booklovers Ball are also being sought in three categories: Founders’ Choice - $100 and up, First Editions - $50 to 100, and Best Sellers – Under $50.  Reservations are $45.00 a person and $75 a couple.  Both Sponsorships and reservations can be arranged by contacting the Hawley Public Library at 226-4620.
“Everyone in the Lake Region community is invited to participate in the Booklovers Ball festivities,” says Ball chair Dona Schmalzle.  She continued, “Our Library has been able to serve the people of Wayne and Pike Counties for more than half a century because of the generosity and dedication of our volunteers, friends and neighbors.  Your support of this event will help us to ensure the continuation of our tradition of service to all.  Please join us.”
