WAYNE COUNTY -    Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County, Pa. raised over $4,400 at the Annual Hearts and Hammers Dinner Dance held February 21st, at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Resort in Tafton.
Two long-time volunteers were honored.  May Rutherford received the Habitat for Humanity Golden Hammer Award for her 24 years of exceptional dedication and volunteerism.  Mike Bodick of M.C. Bodick Excavating received Habitat’s Silver Hammer Award.  Mr. Bodick donated the excavation work of the basements for the 18 houses Habitat has built in Wayne County.
Mark Graziadio, President of Habitat for Humanity of Wayne County thanked the people, churches, and businesses that supported the mission of Habitat and resulted in the 2013 completion of its 18th house for a mother and three sons in need of a decent affordable home.
The Habitat Hearts and Hammers Dinner Dance was a joyful event of great food, dance, silent auction and lively live auctions.  A gorgeous quilt made and donated by Sue Graziadio raised over $600 for Habitat. The other two live auction items were donated by Waste Management, Inc. and M.C. Bodick Excavating.
In 2014 Habitat plans to do some house rehab projects for people in need; as the 100 percent volunteer organization continues fund raising events with the goal of raising the money, donated services, and donated material to build its nineteenth house in 2015.
